Score: Maya

For 2 flutes, alto flute and sound file (CD) [2012]  Duration: c.7 mins.

Notes:

The title Maya derives from Sanskrit and is commonly understood in many Indian religions as a term meaning ‘illusion’ – that is, we do not experience the environment itself but rather a projection of it created by us. Maya is also the principal deity that manifests, perpetuates and governs the illusion and dream of duality in the phenomenal Universe.

Brahma satya! jagat mithy!, j"vo brahmaiva n!parah

Translation: Brahman is the only truth, the spatio-temporal world is an illusion, and there is ultimately no difference between Brahman and individual self. (Adi Shankara)
